However, fiddling with the huge oven in the morning just does not cut the bill for me, so I got this one from (.....). I have heard that Delonghi makes good kitchen appliance, so bought this one. I was little concerned since I never use a toaster oven with digital interface. However, after using it couple of times, I like it much better than rotary dial based control that one can usually see in toaster ovens. Toasting performance is very good. I tried backing some onions tonight and the result is pretty decent, if not perfect as I used to do over charcoal. Overal, I am happy with this oven. Will see how long it lasts. So many reviews about loud beeps, they don't exist in my unit. Beeps are at a normal and comfortable level, same as my microwave oven. The factory has probally reduced it for units being shipped now. Tried the toast, broil and bake modes, all worked perfectly. Easy to operate. The timing for the toast mode is preset to a nominal 4 min. time and you can adjust that up/down with the push of a button for whatever your toasting and your preference (simple). The temperature for the bake mode is preset to 350 degree and you can adjust that up/down in 50 degree increments with a push of a button (simple). Never had a chance of getting close to the correct toast time or oven temperature with the knobs(inacccurate) in our old unit, it was all guess work. Amazon gives the dimensions of the box which was misleading to me. I believe the majority of purchasers of this type of item are more interested in the actual unit size. We were very much concerned about counter space as I think most consumers are. The dimensions of the unit are approx. 14.5 " Width x 8" Height x 10 " Depth. (1200 watts) The only unknown thing is reliability and time will tell about that. Would recomend this toaster to anyone and I give it 5 stars. Better than description ... I was unable to get it fixed as parts were no longer available. I searched the web and I was able to find the last (known) Delonghi XD479B toast-r-oven for sale. I quickly bought it. It is the best four slice toast-r-oven I have ever owned. I believe this product is no longer manufactured. I don't know which Delonghi toast-r-oven has replaced it nor do I know why (if) it has been replaced.

We've had it about a month and so far its great. It is much larger than our last one - it toasts 6 slices at once (our old one did 2). The top dial is for temperature if you are baking. The middle dial is a timer for toast - you twist it to light, med or dark and it ticks away and dings when it is done. It toasts very well althought it does seem a bit slower than our old one. However, with the 'ding' feature, you can walk away and come back after the toast is done. You turn this dial the other direction to turn the oven on for baking. The bottom dial is to set for bake/broil, or bake/toast. It has 'cool touch' sides which we like and so far, it seems to be pretty easy to clean. I pull the removable crumb tray out every couple days, wash it and slide it back in, and wipe down the glass door. It has 2 slots for the rack inside - one is about in the middle of the oven (which we use) and the other one is at the bottom of the oven - just above the bottom burner -we haven't tried cooking anything there. You are supposed to be able to put a 12" pizza in and it has a rounded out area in the back to accomodate this, but we have not tried that feature yet. The oven came with a rectangular metal broiler pan only. We picked this toaster oven for several reasons - first we wanted something low profile - many of the other ovens we looked at were quite 'tall'. We also wanted one with a button or timer for toast that was convenient to use - many of the others were not. Our primary use for this unit is toast with secondary being baking (which we also do frequently). In our shopping, it appeared that many of the large toaster ovens on the market today are geared toward baking more than conveient toasting. This was one of the few I found with a toast timer that was convenient to use. So far we love this toaster oven - highly recommended. Great oven - not so stainless! Regarding the reading of the knobs, sure it's a little hard to read, but once you've used the settings a few times, you know where you want to place the dials anyway. My only criticism that the stainless steel isn't so stainless. As soon as you touch it with your hand, you leave a fingerprint which must be rubbed off with a cloth or else you'll see black marks all over the top of the oven. It does, in fact, accomodate a 12" pizza, namely, the "Trader Joe's 3 Cheese" that my 3yr old loves, but any 12-14" round thing would fit. We got extremely good service from the older on. For a little more external space consumption you get much more internal space (6 bread slices instead of two or a 12" pizza). By comparison, my old oven is good only for 4 slices of bread. The 3 dials of the 6-slice oven is the way to go, offering far more control via option to have upper coil only, lower only, and both. So, I thought I'd try another model, but everything out there seems to be convection (which I do not want); does not have the interior light (which is WONDERFUL!!); and/or does not pop-out the tray/rack when you open the oven door (DELIGHTFUL FEATURE). So, I've become spoiled and am now on the hunt for the same Delonghi that I had. The cool sides are great. The size is perfect. You can cook everything from a whole chicken to a full-sized pizza, and the interior light keeps you from having to open the door too much to check on the food's progress. My only complaint would be that I would have liked to receive two oven racks instead of one in the box; one for the bottom and one for the top, so that I can bake two levels at the same time. It is a little more expensive than other ovens but it is sturdier and larger. I use it exclusively for all my baking/toasting. The only change I would make are larger nob displays. It does take a little longer than our toaster did, but it's worth it. For bagels put to Dark setting and when the bell rings, perfect bagels. We did a pizza the other day, perfect. Better than in our oven. If you're patient...you will love this toaster.
